Brick Wall Academy

A dedicated goalie clinic designed to test the goaltender of any age in all aspects of the position. Goalies will be broken up into groups according to age and ability.
The position of goalie in ice hockey is perhaps the most difficult position to master in all of team sports. The Brick Wall Academy will be conducted over three days. In these sessions, the goalies will be rotated through 4—6 separate stations. Each station will sharpen or add a tool to the “toolbox.” Goaltending is broken down to the basics to expedite the learning experience. Having sound fundamentals helps any goalie master the advance skills needed to excel in the position.
Goaltending elements that will be discussed:
Stance, lateral movement, telescoping, glove and blocker saves, full and half butterfly saves, stick and skate saves, butterfly slides, angles, puck handling, breakaways, screen shots, player awareness, communication, equipment, game preparation, off-ice drills, theory and tricks of the trade.
Dates and destinations:
San Jose, Ca., Date: TBA, 2009, $399
